PACEY, MORE IMMERSIVE VERSION OF OLABOLA THE MUSICAL IS BACK FOR A LIMITED SEASON!

 

KUALA LUMPUR, 28th September 2022 – ENFINITI (M) Sdn Bhd announces the return of

their award-winning and critically acclaimed production of OLABOLA "I COVER YOU", in a

limited season kicking off from 9th to 19th November 2022 at The Platform, Menara Ken TTDI.

This pacey, action-packed encore performance is created and directed by Puan Sri Tiara

Jacquelina. OlaBola “I COVER YOU” is a 90-minute version of the original musical, and was

first performed on a national tour for audiences in Penang, Kuantan, Kota Kinabalu and

Kuching in 2019. This lively 90-minute performance is more immersive, with audience

interaction.

When asked about how different this version would be to the original 2.5 hour version staged

at Istana Budaya 2 sold-out seasons, in 2018 and 2019, Puan Sri Tiara who is the show’s

creator and director had this to say, “Oh, this will be a VERY different experience from the

original long-form musical. Like a roller-coaster version of OlaBola!”, she said with a laugh.

“We saw how our audiences loved the version of the show we took on tour. Right from the

get-go, it was just packed with the adrenaline, emotions and pandemonium of football. The

show opens with lots of audience interaction, with the Ultras Malaya football cheer team

leading the lively football chants. By the time Sargeant Ahmad (played by Altimet) and the

Harimau Malaya appear on stage, the audience is SO ready to follow the journey of the

national football team. I think audiences will find this the perfect warm-up for World Cup fever!”

OlaBola I COVER YOU was euphorically received by 80,000 audiences in Penang, Kuantan,

Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, and was also live streamed worldwide. This will be the first time

this version of OlaBola will meet audiences in KL.

OlaBola The Musical won 8 awards at the 16th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards in 2018 for

Best Direction (Tiara Jacquelina), Best Actor (Brian Chan), Best Set Design (Raja Malek),

Best Original Score (Mia Palencia & Altimet), Best Choreographer (Adzwani Sani &

Stephen Rahman-Hughes), Best Lighting Design (Ee Chee Wei), Best Performance by an

Ensemble, and Best of 2018.

This season’s 90-minute version of OlaBola will see the original cast from the original musical

reprising their roles, including Altimet as Sarjan Ahmad, Brian Chan as “Tauke” Chow Kwok

Keong, Luqman Hafidz as Ahmad Ali and Lim Jian Wen as Ong Tiam Chai.

This award-winning production by Enfiniti is based on the 2016 original film directed by Chiu

Keng Guan and produced by Astro Shaw, Golden Screen Cinemas and Multimedia

Entertainment Sdn Bhd.

football sequences, the “I Cover You” army camp training scene. Now, with the added

audience interaction with the Ultras Malaya cheer team, and the intimate setting of The

Platform Theatre at Menara Ken TTDI, audiences will be in for an unforgettable experience.
