Cinefest Malaysia Launches The Grand Stage: Malaysia's RM120,000 Ultimate Singing & Dance Competition

KUALA LUMPUR 19 June 2026 - Cinefest Malaysia today launched The Grand Stage: The Ultimate Singing & Dance Battle, a nationwide talent competition built to discover, develop and showcase Malaysia's most exceptional singers and dancers. With a total prize pool of RM 120,000, the search will culminate in a live Grand Finale that crowns two winners: The Grand Stage Ultimate Singing Champion and the Ultimate Dance Champion.

The competition forms a centrepiece of the Cinefest Malaysia roadmap, an expanded celebration of Malaysian creativity under the theme "Where Stars Are Born." It builds on a decade of Cinefest Malaysia events, including seven film festivals and the landmark 2019 Cinefest Malaysia Film Awards, which drew more than 2,000 guests and presented 33 awards at the HXC Grand Ballroom in Kuala Lumpur.

The Grand Stage opens to solo performers in two categories: singing and dance. Following the launch, hopefuls will have fourteen days to submit an audition video through the official submission channels. Entries will then be assessed through a combined score of 70% professional judging and 30% public voting, with a panel of professional judges.

Shortlisted contestants will perform live at the Quarter-Final and Semi-Final rounds held at public venues, before a panel selects the Top 10 singers and Top 10 dancers, twenty finalists in all, to compete at the Grand Finale before judges, invited artists, sponsors, media and the public.
