MOBILITYONE, MAPIM AND PAPUH JOIN FORCES TO LAUNCH SAFE-ME — NATIONAL DIGITAL NERVE CENTRE FOR PILGRIM EMERGENCY RESPONSE

KUALA LUMPUR, 5 MARCH 2026 — In a landmark move to safeguard the welfare of Malaysian pilgrims, Mobility One Sdn Bhd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM) and the Persatuan Agensi Pelancongan Umrah & Haji (PAPUH) to establish SAFE-ME (Support and Assistance Framework for Emergencies – Middle East) — a national digital nerve centre for real-time crisis response.

The initiative is a direct response to the geopolitical escalation on 28 February 2026, which saw mass flight cancellations and airspace closures across seven Middle Eastern countries, leaving Malaysian pilgrims stranded without coordinated support. With over 500,000 Malaysians travelling for Umrah annually, the need for a centralised, technology-driven emergency framework has become critical.

SAFE-ME: A Lifeline for Malaysians Abroad

SAFE-ME will function as a 24/7 integrated command centre, connecting pilgrims, travel agents, government agencies, and emergency financial assistance under one unified digital platiorm. Key features include:

• Real-time pilgrim location tracking during emergencies.

• Emergency SOS and communication via integrated telecommunications.

• Digital financial disbursement through e-wallet technology for immediate aid.

• Government oversight dashboard for MOTAC, JAWHAR, and Wisma Putra to monitor and coordinate responses.

• AI-powered early warning system to detect geopolitical risks before they escalate.

Humanitarian Endorsement and Industry Leadership

MAPIM, representing a coalition of Islamic NGOs with extensive humanitarian experience, has formally endorsed SAFE-ME and will play a key advisory role in ensuring the initilative remains aligned with the welfare needs of the Ummah.

PAPUH, the premier association for Umrah and Hajj travel agents, will lead industry engagement and onboarding of its 153 member agencies, ensuring seamless integration of pilgrim data and real-time coordination capabilities
